What payment methods are available and how can I pay my bills?

Payment methods

Hostarea offers the following payment methods:

  • Credit cards (Visa, MasterCard and American Express)
  • PostFinance cards or e-finance access (Swiss customers only)
  • QR Bill
  • PayPal

Default payment method

The default payment method is set when you place your first order. After that, every invoice is generated for this payment method. You can also choose to pay each invoice with a different payment method.

To modify the default payment method, log in to the client area and follow the steps below:

  1. In the "Hello!" menu on the right-hand side of the screen, click on the "My information" entry
  2. In the "Payment method" drop-down list, select your preferred payment method
  3. Save your changes

Store a credit card

The client area allows you to add a credit card to your account to automate and facilitate the payment of your bills.

To add your credit card, log in to the client area and follow the steps below:

  1. In the "My invoices" menu click on "Payment method".
  2. Click on "Add a new credit card".
  3. Fill in your card details
  4. Save the changes

Billing FAQ

My bill is marked fraudulent

In order to prevent abuse, we use an anti-fraud system that checks several criteria. If your order is incorrectly marked as fraudulent, please contact us.

What happens if I pay my bill late?

Services are billed 30 days before their expiration. The invoice is due at the latest at its due date. We will notify you by email several times in case of late payment.

Your web hosting will remain active for 30 days after the invoice is due and will be suspended.. Web hosting will be automatically terminated 60 days after the invoice is due. All stored data will be permanently lost!

Does the payment by card, PostFinance, or Paypal incur fees?

No, there are no fees for our payment methods!

Can I get a printed invoice?

On request, we can also send you a printed invoice by post. Please note that printed invoices are subject to a fee of CHF 5.00 per invoice.
