Prerequisites

To connect to the FTP, you will need your login details and an FTP client (Filezilla, Cyberduck, Transmit, etc.).

The login details (username and password) for your FTP are sent to you when your hosting account is created.

Connection

The following data will allow you to access your FTP:

  • Username: received by email when your web hosting was created, generally corresponds to your domain name
  • Password: received by email when your hosting was created; it is possible to change it (see below)
  • FTP server: mydomainname.ch
  • Port: 21

Once connected, you will have access to the "httpdocs" folder, where you can publish your website.

Change FTP password

  1. To change your FTP password, log in to your Plesk management interface, and then
  2. Click on the "FTP Access" button
  3. Select the FTP access you want to change
  4. Enter your new password (use a different secure password in each of your applications!)
  5. Apply the changes by clicking on "OK."

Create an additional FTP user

If you wish to provide FTP access to a third party (your webmaster, graphic designer, etc.), you can create a new user so that you don't have to share your login details. To create additional access, log in to your Plesk management interface and then:

  1. Click on the "FTP Access" button
  2. Click on "Add FTP account."
  3. Enter a user name
  4. Select the directory the user will have access to; if you do not select one, the user will have access to all folders and files in the FTP
  5. Enter a password (use a different secure password in each of your applications!)
  6. Create the user by clicking on "OK."

FTP FAQ

I have published my files but my site is not displayed

Make sure that your files have been published in the "httpdocs" directory to be visible on the internet. Also, check that your browser is not displaying a "cached" page.
